So I am not the biggest John Mayer fan ever, but I do like reading interviews. In this interview he explains his feelings about people thinking he dates other celebrities to further his career. My favorite answer:
“At the end of the day, all I owe the world in exchange for my dumb face being in their lives are the 10 songs every couple years that are hopefully of greater magnitude than somebody’s press story about me.”
The writer goes on to say that in person, Mayer’s answer is not nearly “as abrasive as it sounds.” The reason I like that answer so much is that I hope people’s actions carry more weight than the general feeling you get from them. I do remember times when I feel so excited, mad or happy around a person, but ultimately I want to remember why I felt that way. A lot of times, memories blur and all that’s left is a vague recollection of the mood you were in that day.
I guess for John Mayer, he wants us to remember the him and his songs, not the press stories (for a singer whose songs I do like, I hope he’s being honest.) As for me, I hope when I look back I will be able to remember why I felt a certain way around a person, at a certain time even years ago.
Bottom line: You don’t have to think about somebody ALL the time, but if it means anything you’ll remember HOW and what they made you feel. For me— try to make memories more specific, think harder.

The Jets of NGC 1097
Enigmatic spiral galaxy NGC 1097 lies about 45 million light-years away in the southern constellation Fornax. The small companion galaxy, just below and left of center, that seems to be wrapped in its spiral arms, is not NGC 1097’s most peculiar feature though. Instead, This very deep exposure shows hints of faint, mysterious jets, most easily seen to extend well beyond the bright arms toward the lower right. In fact, four faint jets are ultimately recognized in optical images of NGC 1097. The jets trace an X centered on the galaxy’s nucleus, but could be fossil trails left over from the capture of a much smaller galaxy in the large spiral’s ancient past. A Seyfert galaxy, NGC 1097’s nucleus also harbors a massive black hole.

I want pumpkin pie very badly.
I wish I had pie everyday! If they had pumpkin pie in the dining halls I would eat there all the time. I like everything about pumpkin— you can carve it, it’s orange, it tastes good, but most of all, it is really good as pie.
